The UCC-CF regularly holds "Vacation Bible School" (often referred to as "VBS") during the summer months. The schedule varies each year. Please keep an eye on this space for details about our next VBS, or call the office at 319-266-9686 for information!
One Student's Perspective:
We had lots of fun in 2005 doing crafts, like sand art, and eating new foods, like Tabuli. We even got to tie-dye our own headdresses. It was an awesome experience of the Holy Land, and we didn't even need a passport!

2005 Vacation Bible School
Journey to the Holy Land
This year for VBS, we spent our time exploring the Holy Land. We talked about and experienced what life is like in the area that is the birthplace for the three maor monotheistic religions in the world. Students tasted food from some of the countries, and even played some games from them.

| Congregation member Brittany Buchholz came and talked to the students about her overseas studies. She spent six months living in the Holy Land and going to school. Brittany told us how being a girl in the Holy Land is different from being a girl here in Iowa. She had a lot of neat pictures to share, and showed us some of the beautiful clothing from the region. |

| Dan Enz visited and told us about what it was like being in the the Holy Land as part of the Army. Dan has been serving in Iraq (and other Middle East areas), and he brought along a really cool flag, and explained to the students how the people over there are a lot like us -- including wanting to have fun and eat candy! Most importantly, though, he told us how important their families are, and how they're very loving and protective of one another. |
